Earth Day Celebration 2016

Earth Day 2016Saturday, April 23rd, YAYA tabled at the Earth Day Festival at Lake Eola. There were so many different interests represented at the festival, and we had the opportunity to chat with many folks who had never considered the role that farmworkers play in our lives. It was a beautiful day, and although our area didn’t have huge amounts of traffic, we talked with a good number of folks passing by and some people signed up for more information on how to get involved. I think that our presence there was very important, as we represent a human interest in the environmental movement which is so often willing to spend all of its time waxing poetic about trees and dirt. While there is definitely a place for this, it often comes at the expense of ignoring the human rights and labor rights aspects. For the earth and for the workers!
