Stand Up for Responsibly Grown Food with EFI

A Message From the Equitable Food Initiative:

EFI_logoSoon, a new certification system will assure that American farms meet rigorous safety standards and treat their workers with the same great care they give to the fruits and vegetables they grow so you’ll know that the fields where your food comes from are a decent and safe place to work, and that your food is the best it can be for you and your family.

Everyone deserves safe food and a safe workplace. The best way to ensure both is to produce food that has integrity, from farm to fork. By training and empowering farm workers and growers to reduce food safety risks and pesticide use, and improving working conditions in the fields, we can create higher levels of assurance that add value throughout the fresh produce system.

Pledge to support safe food and safe workplaces by

  • Buying EFI-certified produce where available;
  • Encouraging retailers to carry EFI-certified produce that assures responsibility from farm to fork;
  • Talking to family and friends about the issues related to treating workers fairly and growing food responsibly.

More retailers will carry produce that is responsibly grown and farm worker assured, but you need to make your voice heard.

Click here to take the pledge today and stand up for responsibly grown food!
