Concert at Mojitos

On Thursday, May 12, YAYA members Dominique, Eden and I showed our support for the Florida Compact by attending a concert at Mojitos. The purpose of the concert was to collect signatures and raise awareness about this important document, which is a declaration for immigration reform based on common values like keeping families together and a strong local economy.

The first band from Miami got the crowd dancing, and then I-nity took the stage, fronted by Manuel from Comunidad Esperanza, the Central Florida coalition (of which YAYA is a member) formed to fight against Arizona-style anti-immigrant legislation in Florida. They played some awesome reggae music, the crowd danced wildly, and we enjoyed getting to see some friends from Hope Community Center and FOCUS.
