Pinellas Support Committee for NFWM Annual Sacrificial Soup Supper

Dr. Raymond Arsenault at the PBS premiere of “Freedom Riders”

The Pinellas Support Committee invites you to join them at their Annual Sacrificial Soup Supper Saturday, November 17 at 5:30 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Clearwater, FL. Bring new socks and underwear for kids under 12 and warm blankets for folks of all ages to support the Farm Worker Christmas Project and enjoy homemade lentil soup and bread.

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Raymond Arsenault, of the University of Southern Florida. Dr. Arsenault is the author of the acclaimed Freedom Riders 1961 and the Struggle for Racial Justice. He was interviewed by Oprah last year on the 50th anniversary of the Freedom Rides, a subject that he has been studying since he was 19 years old. Just in time to prepare for Thanksgiving festivities, Dr. Arsenault will be speaking about CBS journalist Edward R. Murrow’s “Harvest of Shame.” Dr. Arsenault will show parts of the 1960 documentary that examined the plight of American migrant agricultural workers.

This inspirational and educational evening will also include a silent auction with proceeds going to support the farm workers in Florida. If you have any questions, feel free to email Maria at nfwmtampa@hotmail.com. The PSC looks forward to feeding and entertaining you!
