Equitable Food Initiative Certification

Look for EFI label on fresh fruits and vegetables at participating Costco Wholesale and Whole Foods Market locations.

Why the EFI Label?

EFI offers the only certification process for large-scale fresh produce operations that combines standards for labor, pesticides and food safety; offers facilitation and training to promote worker involvement to support compliance; and includes representation from across the value chain in its governance.

Unlike other certification schemes, EFI’s approach creates both an on-farm mechanism (the Leadership Team) and an incentive (improved working conditions assured by the Standard) through which farmworkers can work with management to identify and address threats to food safety and social accountability on a continuous basis.
