Oregon Farm Worker Ministry
Oregon Farm Worker Ministry serves farm workers and their supporters in the Northwest, including Pineros y Campesinos Unidos del Noroeste (PCUN) and the United Farm Workers (UFW). You can get involved with our work. Contact us at the phone or email below to find out how!
Oregon Farm Worker Ministry is supporting the efforts of nearly 100 Beef Northwest workers from Nyssa and Boardman Oregon, and Quincy, Washington. The majority of the workers have signed cards for union representation. They are seeking company neutrality in check card elections and binding arbitration for a contract when representation is won. New Sanctuary Movement of Oregon While its genesis sparked commitment from Portland Metro churches, the movement is attracting Willamette Valley congregations and is reaching out to the rural and agricultural regions of the state. Already 12 Catholic, Episcopal, Friends, Lutheran, Unitarian Universalist, and United Church of Christ conregations are actively involved in the process, with another 32 faith communities including Muslim, Jewish, African American, and other Presbyterian, Methodist, Metropolitan Community Church, and non-denominational Christian congregations discerning ways to support the movement
We invite you to learn more, even (especially!) if your faith community hasn't been at previous meetings! Visit the national New Sanctuary Movement web site, or contact the Oregon New Sanctuary Movement: Marco Mejia and Beth Poteet: Portland NSM statement on recent raids
