PROJECT SOLIDARITY 2007
After years of struggle, more than 5000 farmworkers have secured rights through their own worker-led organization, the Farm Labor Organizing Committee (FLOC). Some of these rights include job security, an end to blacklisting & a grievance procedure that allows them to address problems on-the-job without fear of retaliation.
Regional workers’ meetings are critical to leadership development, decision making and advancement of the organization. Workers can’t participate in these important meetings without transportation. In 2006 more than 150 people volunteered to drive workers to monthly meetings. This year we need you!
BE PART OF THE 2007 SEASON’S EFFORT! ONLY ONE MEETING per region this year

What volunteers liked about last year's experience: "Feeling connected to labor and immigrant rights organizing. Seeing that the task I did actually made a difference."
"Contributing to the cause and taking part in raising farmworkers' standard of living by giving them the opportunity to voice their concerns and learn their rights, learning about the cause which gives me the change to inform other, meeting new people, and learning more about a different culture."
"Meeting the workers, getting a deeper understanding of farmworker issues, being part of history!"
Here's what the workers had to say about volunteer participation:
"It was really nice to see drivers come together and support us in this way. Not even the farmers want to take us to the clinic or the store just down the street, but people who don't even know us are willing to drive several hours to pick us up and take us to this meeting."
"What I liked most was how the people acted; they really treated us well and I appreciate all the people who participated."
IF YOU CAN'T DRIVE THERE ARE STILL WAYS TO HELP!!
Donate food or offer to help prepare a meal for 40-70 workers and volunteers at one of the meetings in or near your city Help recruit other drivers Help enter directions into a database of labor camp locations Secure donations of vans for driving
