Reynolds Tobacco Campaign -Background, News, Materials, more!
TAKE ACTION

Volunteer to drive for SAF’s Project Levante

Can’t wait until summer to be a volunteer driver? You’re in luck! Student Action with Farmworkers’ Project Levante (to “Rise Up”) is looking for volunteer drivers to drive students to/from Saturday workshops once or twice a month.

Project Levante is a farmworker led youth group that holds 2-3 meetings per month in Benson, NC. This great program enhances the organizing and leadership skills of 12-20 youth from farmworker families in Eastern North Carolina. For more information on how you can help, email
Rosie Rangel or call her at 919-660-3652

CONTACT RJ REYNOLDS

Join the Farm Labor Organizing Committee in their campaign calling on RJ Reynolds to take responsibility for the tragedies that are occurring in the tobacco fields throughout North Carolina.

CEO Susan Ivey of Reynolds American, Inc. (RJR parent company) has thus far refused to even talk with FLOC farmworker leaders, despite the fact that RAI reaps tremendous profits from the labor of these workers in the fields.

Help tobacco harvesters gain respect in their work with this campaign for health and dignity in the workplace.

Show R.J. Reynolds WE WILL NOT BE SILENT while people are dying in the fields

Send a letter to RJ Reynolds' CEO urging her to meet with FLOC

JUSTICE AT SMITHFIELD
Smithfield workers
32,000 hogs are slaughtered each day at the Smithfield Packing Plant in Tarheel, NC, and unsafe conditions put workers at risk every day, not to mention extreme anti-union intimidation by management, "divide & conquer" techniques used to pit Black and Latino workers against eachother, and retaliation against workers who speak out. Human Rights Watch has even cited Smithfield for violating international human rights standards. But, the good news is that workers are organizing, and YOU can get involved.
NORTH CAROLINA MIGRANT HOUSING CAMPAIGN

NFWM-NC is a member of the Farmworker Advocacy Network.

Among the primary concerns of the network is substandard housing conditions for farmworkers in the state.
