Who is addressing life on the border?
The Hogar de Esperanza y Paz (Home of Hope and Peace – HEPAC) is a grassroots community center of primarily women and children in the impoverished neighborhood of Bella Vista in Nogales, Sonora – just three miles south of the Mexico-U.S. border. HEPAC programs include meals, education and alternative micro-economic projects. The vision of HEPAC is to create a healthy community in Nogales where people don’t feel forced to risk arrest and death in the desert in a desperate attempt to immigrate to the U.S. in order to provide for their families.
