WAWA Rally in support of FLOC

When: Sunday, December 9th from 1-2 pm

Where: Wawa, 7030 South Orange Blossom Trail, Orlando, FL

Orlando YAYA is holding a rally in front of the Wawa on South Orange Blossom Trail in support of the Farm Labor Organizing Committee’s campaign against RJ Reynolds Tobacco.

Throughout the month of October, Orlando YAYA has been delivering letters to the Wawa stores of Central Florida with the intent of putting pressure on Wawa to meet with YAYA to discuss their role in the tobacco supply chain and how they can urge RJ Reynolds to meet with FLOC in the fields. Yet, after several attempts by YAYA to initiate communication with the Wawa regional manager, Charlene Marko-Heim, we have yet to receive a response. Now it is time to get loud and let Wawa know that we are tired of being ignored!

The FLOC campaign is in its fifth year of trying to convince Reynolds America, the largest tobacco company in North Carolina, to work with FLOC to ensure that North Carolina tobacco workers are guaranteed the right to freedom of association and collective bargaining. Orlando YAYA stands in solidarity with FLOC and NC tobacco workers by putting pressure on Wawa to meet with us about the conditions these workers face.

We hope you will join us at this event! If you need a ride to the rally, we are more than happy to provide transportation!

RSVP on Facebook or contact us for any questions.
