Coalition of Immokalee Workers- Now is the Time Tour

Join the Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW) for their Now is the Time Tour!  CIW is organizing a 10 day tour to put pressure on Wendy’s and Publix Supermarkets to join the Fair Food Program.  Actions will take place in North Carolina, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida.

The Fair Food Program has increased wages of tomato pickers and has established a code of conduct to guarantee the rights and safety of farm workers.

The National Farm Worker Ministry needs your support for this important tour!  Join us in support of CIW and the Fair Food Program!

 

Thursday March 6th, 2014:  

9:30am- Action and Delegation at Publix Ballantyne Town Center, 11222 Providence Road West, Charlotte, NC

6:00pm- CIW Presentation and farmworker theater at Duke Divinity School, Westbrook Building Rm 0016, Durham, NC

7:30pm- Vigil and Tour Send-off at Duke University Chapel Steps, 401 Chapel Dr, Durham, NC

 

Friday March 7th, 2014:

12:30pm- Community Lunch and Presentation at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 20 Oak St, Asheville, NC

2:30pm- Action at Publix, 1830 Hendersonville Road, Asheville, NC

 

Friday March 14th, 2014

2:00pm- CIW 24 hour Vigil at Southgate Publix, 2515 S Florida Ave, Lakeland, FL

7:00pm- Candlelight Witness at Southgate Publix

 

Saturday March 15th, 2014

1:00pm- Tour Grand Finale at Southgate Publix- Closing of Vigil and 3 mile march to Downtown Lakeland
